The Dwight Lightning Gig Gear Guide!
It's a lot more fun to see Dwight live if you have the right gear with you! Here at Dwight Lightning, we've got this
down to a science after many years of concert-going. Here's our recommendations for the essential
gig gear (available through Amazon.com, which sells practically everything these days!):
First--Dwight's a popular guy and a hot ticket,
and it's pretty hard to score good
seats. If you didn't manage to get in those coveted first few rows (or even if you did, and want
to check out every secret smile beneath that mysterious hat), you need a good pair of
binoculars.
Amazon has several different types to suit your needs. (The small ones are lightweight, which comes
in handy while waiting in line for hours for general admission seating.)
If you're one of the lucky ones who got close,
you're likely to regret it if you don't take a camera.
Some people prefer digital cameras, some film--here are the ones we like:
either an
Olympus Camedia digital camera or a
Minolta Freedom Zoom camera. These are both great cameras, and the Minolta fits easily into your
purse or pocket!
Always take along
extra batteries (CR-123 for the
Minolta Freedom Zoom and most other film cameras or
rechargeable AAs for the
Olympus Camedia and many other digitals)...they
inevitably seem to give out right in the middle of the show!! And don't
forget
film, either--you don't want less than 400 speed for concerts!
If you're REALLY lucky and get a chance to meet Dwight
(or Pete, or Scott, or any of the other Babylonian Cowboys), you'll want 'em to sign something--a CD booklet,
sheet music, etc. You can find his CDs in Dwight's
page at The Actors' Attic and his sheet music at
Read the Music--but you'll also need
a
Sharpie pen. We always take more than one color pen along because sometimes that black one
they're likely to be signing with just doesn't show up on what you are getting autographed!
But how to keep track of all this stuff you need to be really prepared for the show? How about a pair of
cargo pants?
That way you can keep everything with you when it's time for the famous "stage rush" that occurs at most
Dwight shows, when you can get up close to the stage and don't want to worry about keeping track of
a purse, and
they come in handy for sneaking a camera in! (You never know when a photo opportunity might arise!)
There you have it--the official Dwight Lightning suggested Gig Gear...got 'em all? Now you're ready to go--just don't forget your ticket!!
